You can appreciate Danny Brown’s swift, ululating flow for its raw musicality, processing only the major lyrics that pop out. Or you can prick up your ears, pause the track, and try to parse out every little thing he’s saying, which can be very tough when he’s locked into warp speed. But the Detroit rapper wants you to know. He’s collaborated with Genius before to offer insight into songs from throughout his career. Today he’s premiered a new lyric video for “Really Doe,” the first single from his chilly, ambitious September album Atrocity Exhibition, through the site.

The video has a lo-fi cyberpunk aesthetic going; the text for the song’s verses—by Brown, Kendrick Lamar, Earl Sweatshirt, and Ab-Soul—scroll slowly over some psychedelic color-inverted performance footage. If you’ve never checked the lyric sheet, it’s a fun way to take a deeper listen to one of the year’s best posse cuts.
